Back years ago, I started writing a book about my experiences over the years of research on the Strong project. I had much accomplished until the COVID pandemic happened in 2020, when I lost my chance to get the memorial plaque into the water. Four years went by, and I finally got to put the plaque in a place of honor at the South Pacific WWII Museum on Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu, home of the largest American military base in WWII in July of 2024. I came home and over the months have finally written the manuscript. My friend Stephen Harding (author of The Castaway's War and former editor in chief of Military History magazine) was kind enough to edit the book for me. He shared a document with me, a blank book proposal that turned out to be harder to write than the book - very intimidating and longer than I expected! Steve believes though, that the book is very much worth publishing and is making some minor editorial changes to the proposal. Once done, he will introduce me to a literary agent who, if he likes what he sees he will help me find a publisher. If he doesn't, I have other options. So, we will see. I hope to report sometime this year that my book has been picked up. Either way, I will update the blog as necessary!

Tammi JohnsonWelcome to the blog! I'm a life long Kentuckian with a degree in Anthropology, thus a nice background in research, thanks to some great profs at the University of Kentucky. Family and historical research are what float my boat, and this project has been the heart of it for a very long time now. I welcome input and ideas for blog entries, so if you have something to contribute I'll happily post it. Archives
